I founded the Linley Foundation with my partner, Maria Lucia Ferreira, over ten years ago. It was a practical, reflexive response to some of the conditions we witnessed in and around a small fishing village in the state of Paraiba in northeast Brazil, where we have a home. 
Over the years, we have developed educational and scholarship programs for young adults and initiated a number of environmental and animal welfare projects. These include: Looking Forward vocational scholarship program; School building and infrastructure improvement projects; and " Jegues" Project in which abandoned donkeys are gathered, vetted and put up for ad​option.
We are in the process of launching a new, international school-to-school program called Global Bookshelf. Our projects depend on donations, and I remain awed by the capacity of humans to give to those they do not know nor will ever meet.
